This year we partnered with the producers of the Shorty Awards to bring the first ever Shorty Stories event to Israel! The Shorty Awards honor the best of social media by recognizing the influencers, brands and organizations on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine and more. The Shorty Awards were the first awards to honor social media, and by constantly evolving along with the medium it honors, The Shortys remains the most prominent award show of its kind, engaging an online audience of millions and culminating in a blockbuster ceremony in New York City. Notable Shorty Award winners are Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift, Bill Nye and many, many more.
Shorty Stories is a monthly event series from the creators of the Shorty Awards, featuring an influencer or content creator who is making a career out of the internet. The influencers share the stories of the successes and failures of their online journeys. In 2015, Vibe Israel bought the exclusive rights to bring the Shorty Stories format to Israel.
On July 9th 2016, we hosted the first ever Shorty Stories Tel Aviv 2016, in the presence of local online opinion leaders and content creators, and marketing and advertising professionals. The keynote speaker of this exciting event was Thomas Sanders, winner of the Shorty Awards for Best Viner of 2015. Florida-born singer and actor, Thomas is taking Vine and YouTube by storm. Between stage performances and TV appearances he still finds time to interact with his 10 millions followers every day!
To celebrate the Shorty Stories coming to Israel, Vibe Israel also flew in 4 more leading international social media stars, together with almost 6 million followers, for a #VibeVideo tour which took place during the week leading up to the Shorty Stories Tel Aviv 2016 event: these were Benjamin Cahn from LA, Sara Hopkins and Aaron Chewning from Atlanta, and Elisabeth Jakovenko from NYC.
Finally, right after the Shorty Stories Tel Aviv event, that very same evening, we launched the first Vibe Inside Awards for Outstanding Video Content Creators for the Web, honoring Israeli content creators.
